  City Employment

The City of Tuscola regulates building and electrical activities within the city limits and within the 1.5 mile transitional zone around the city, for the safety and protection of our residents. Building permits are required to be obtained from the City building inspector for most building, upgrades and improvements to properties.

The City of Tuscola is served by the Tuscola City Fire Department under the direction of Fire Chief Brian Moody.

Police protection for the City of Tuscola is provided by the Tuscola Police Department, under the direction of Police Chief Craig Hastings.

The City of Tuscola operates its own water distribution system, distributing water purchased from Illinois American Water Company. Additionally, the City maintains a sewerage collection system and two sewer treatment facilities.

The street department of the City of Tuscola is responsible for maintaining city roadways and alleys; sidewalks and curbing; City leaf pickup; plowing snow; assisting with water and sewer repairs; and a large variety of other maintenance related tasks within the city.

The Tuscola Community Building is located at 122 W. North Central Avenue in downtown Tuscola. The building is available for rent for larger group meetings and social events.
