Emergency Notifications

Effective September 1, 2019, Douglas County has replaced the CodeRED emergency notification system with HYPER-REACH.  The City of Tuscola will also use the HYPER-REACH system.  The systems function very similarly.  Unfortunately, your sign up with CodeRED WILL NOT TRANSFER to HYPER-REACH.  You must sign up with HYPER-REACH to continue receiving notifications after September 1, 2019.

Douglas County and the City of Tuscola have instituted the HYPER-REACH Emergency Notification System – an ultra high-speed communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices). The system is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.   The system also sends e-mail and text messages.

To insure that you are in the database and will receive HYPER-REACH alerts, be sure to register.

Want mobile alerts too? Download the HYPER-REACH ANYWHERE app from your favorite app store!

Because seconds count in an emergency.

This system will only be used for emergency purposes.

Examples of times when the HYPER-REACH system could be utilized: Drinking water contamination, Utility outage, Evacuation notice & route, Missing person, Fires or Floods, Bomb threat, Hostage situation, Chemical spill or Gas leak, and other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.
