During the summer months an additional 25-30 employees are added to operate the swimming pool and assist in other departments as needed. Current Open Positions
Police Patrol Officer
- The City of Tuscola is accepting applications for Police Patrol Officer. The City of Tuscola Police Department is seeking qualified and highly motivated individuals to fill the positions of part time and full time patrol officers. These law enforcement positions involve duties that will include vehicle and/or bicycle patrol, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, community relations, and local ordinance enforcement. Successful applicants will possess knowledge and experience in the law enforcement field. Associates Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field preferred. Valid driver’s license and high school degree or equivalent required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Successful completion of Police Training Institute required upon hiring, with preference given to those already certified. Starting hourly wage dependent upon qualifications.
Summer Employment- Swimming Pool Lifeguard
- Lifeguards work at the swimming pool at Ervin Park throughout the summer season. Lifeguards must be certified and the City provides assistance with the certification classes and cost. Applicants under age 16 must obtain a work permit if hired. Lifeguard wage is $8.75 per hour.
Summer Employment- Swimming Pool Cashier
- Cashiers work at the swimming pool at Ervin Park throughout the summer season. Applicants under age 16 must obtain a work permit if hired. Cashier wage is $8.25 per hour.
Summer Employment - Mowing and General Park Maintenance
- The City employs individuals to work approximately 40 hours per week during the mowing season each year to assist the Park employees with mowing duties. Applicants must be 18 years of age to operate mowing equipment. Mowing is done at Ervin Park, Wimple Park and other City properties around town. Position may include other general maintenance as assigned
Part-Time, Intern or Summer Employment - Tourism Assistant
The City of Tuscola is seeking motivated and enthusiastic entry level individuals to work on a temporary or part time basis to assist with the marketing efforts of the city. Applicants should be self-motivated, creative, outgoing and personable. Additionally, applicants should have a basic understanding and proficiency with current computer platforms and applications such as Microsoft Office products, social media apps, and Acrobat. Experience with Photoshop, Publisher, or InDesign, while not required, would be a valuable asset. Intern credit may apply, depending on your educational institution. Position(s) will have varying day to day tasks such as website updating, assisting with event coordination, basic writing for social media and website posting, candid photography, minor editing and other office type duties. Additionally, the position may assist with other organization, data entry or reception type tasks at City Hall. These positions are intended for the summer 2019, but may provide opportunity to grow into other or longer-term positions.
The City of Tuscola Tourism Department is seeking individuals to work on a part-time temporary basis to perform local historical research, verify facts, write or edit articles concerning local history, take or scan photos, and update website and print historical information. Other office or organizational duties may be assigned. Applicants should be proficient with computer applications and diligent with research.
