Starry Night, with a Tuscola Twist
Starry Night, with a Tuscola Twist
The City of Tuscola and Tuscola Tourism held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Starry Night mural at the park along North Central Avenue on May 10, 2025. The mural was designed by local artist and businessman, Ainslie Heilich. Heilich also headed up the crew doing the actual painting, which was completed in just a few days with the help of artists Marcus Koch, Libby Neathery and Jessica Lockard. The classic van Gogh painting was given a decidedly Tuscola flavor with the addition of several current and historic Tuscola landmarks. Present in the mural are the community building, the ever present trains, the water tower with its iconic T, the downtown gazebo, the Carnegie Library, the Douglas County Courthouse, the Depot, the TY Tower, and the crossing of 3 Class 1 rail lines.
