City Council Subcommittees

The City Council works in smaller subcommittees in order to efficiently study issues in-depth. Subcommittees make recommendations, on issues they have studied, to the full City Council for final votes on issues. Subcommittee assignments are made by the Mayor.

Finance & Administration Committee

The Finance & Administration Committee is responsible for oversight of the administration department, including budgeting, appropriations, property tax levy, bond issuance, personnel, benefits and insurance. There are no regularly scheduled meetings of the Finance & Adminstration Committee, however, as meetings are necessary, notices and agendas will be posted here.

Community Development & Planning Committee

The Community Development & Planning Committee is responsible for oversight of the building inspection department and economic development and future planning activities of the City. This includes zoning, subdivision review, special use permits and variances, and construction codes.

Public Works Committee

The Public Works Committee is responsible for oversight of the Street, Parks, Sewer, and Water Departments, the solid waste program, recycling, franchise agreements, public buildings, property and rights of way, and water and sewer service rates. There are no regularly scheduled meetings of the Public Works Committee, however, as meetings are necessary, notices and agendas will be posted here.

Public Safety Committee

The Public Safety Committee is responsible for oversight of the Police and Fire Departments, ambulance service, animal control, abandoned properties and nuisance enforcement. There are no regularly scheduled meetings of the Public Safety Committee, however, as meetings are necessary, notices and agendas will be posted here.

The City of Tuscola's Council Members have worked hard alongside many others to create a Comprehensive Plan for the City. This plan is a guiding document used to make everyday decisions.
